today is June 23, 2008. The beginning of posting of
Garden at Cathis. This year I bought seeds from a catalog that never sold seeds before, only organic garden products, Gardens Alive. My potatoes and tomato seeds did come from Johnny Seeds, though some potatoes came up in a different bed planted last year! PTL! I particularly like the dwarf snow peas, they are short only about 30" and have not stopped producing as of this date. As my pics will show, I do intense planting to get maximum yield in little space. Got the idea from Lazy Bed gardening years ago. It is fun and very easy, though you have to also take into account what plants are compatible with one another. My "new" bed this year is my Three Sisters bed, apparently it is how North American Natives planted their gardens. First plant the corn, after that is up about 2-3 inches, plant your squash in the same vacinity. Then plant pole beans after the squash appears. The beans grow up the corn, the squash then shades the beans and corn roots to hold in moisture. I hope it works, but I guess we'll all see in time. One more goal of mine is to seed save this year, time will tell...
A little about myself.
