Autumn the Redd dawg

Put the dang camera away, I will not open my eyes, I will NOT!
the cats laughing in the background!

Mom put these tupid antlers on me!

taking a snow bath

Matts big doe!

He was glad to get this one! After hunting became the main life focus, he was successful. Way to go Matt!

Christmas Stockings!

The stockings below are old sweaters that have been washed in hot water, then dried in a hot dryer. By doing this most felted pretty well. Then stitched them together by hand and machine sewed the fold over. Then hand sewed ornamental buttons for decoration.

These two are for Walter and myself.

These two are for Susan and Matthew

From left to right, these stockings are for Eli, Melissa and Ben!

Christmas Pine Cone Wreathes

These are fun to make but hard on the hands! One thing I don't do but should is bake these fresh fallen pine cones in a slow oven on paper for a little while to melt the sap off of them. But a little vegetable oil does the trick as far as cleaning my hands.
One wreath for my daughter the other for my daughter in law.

Autumn Redd!

Chillin (literally) with her country ball!

Autumn catching the veiw! Sporting her lady bug floral scarf!

Catskill Columbus Day!

Susan and I went for water to the infamous pipe that has flowed for eons. After driving round the mountain, we decided warmth would be a good thing so she starts a fire! A little bit of work but we got it going! Here she sits perched in front, where she would stay most of the weekend!

sigh...

Felling a bit melancholy this fine cool Sabbath days end. It is quiet, though one of the 'girlies' had to be put out of her misery tonight.
Always sad to lose a pet even though she was a chicken. One can say damn the devil! It was never the intention of Jesus that we suffer death/sin or what lays with in that realm. I cannot wait for His return in the clouds to take us home. My prayer is that all whom I love will have the same desire, that they will also except the invitation to live in the Heavenly kingdom. It begins here and now, as we pray "on earth as it is in Heaven..."
I just finished Jim Hohnbergers book, Come to the Quiet. He talks about having that intense one on one relationship with God and knowing God's voice, giving Him your all and excepting His all for our lives. The battles and sorrows as well as joys and triumphs! We all have them, but do we recognize them. I know some of mine, I know there are more. The book was his sequel to Escape to God. Peace peace wonderful peace coming down from the Father above, swing over my spirit forever I pray in fathomless billow of love...

American Majesty!

This reminds me of a song by Steve Voss, There's an Eagle. Steve composed the song right after September 11th transpired.
This was taken at the end of 55A on the way to Red Hill.
He was pleased to pose for us, though we were hindering his hunt.

Around the World!

A gift for the happy couple! Get to give it at the wedding coming up. Tea like colors since we had a tea party shower for her! Will post her name after the wedding ;-)
Well the wedding of Kristen Aubry Salmon and Scott Salmon was 2 weeks ago! The quilt was for them! They really loved the colors!
Congrats kristen and Scott!

Jackson

Jackson out in the yard. Jackson checking out Baby Isabella!
I think once she stopped crying he was more interested in the smell of her cats on the car seat!

Strawberry pot Begonias

Just real pretty! I love the look! Hope you do too!

July '09 Vegetable Garden

In the direct front bed is squash and cukes. I planted 2 hills of yellow crookneck, 1 zucchini bush, 1 patty pan or scallop bush and 2 kinds of cuke hills. Potatoes to right, 4 different varieties.
Purple bush beans, blue lake bush green beans, kale, 2 kinds of beets, radishes and chattenay carrots.
middle bed is tomatoes, saved seed from last year! Well done!
peppers saved also and eggplant plants. Last bed across from gate is greens, chard and peas. Peas need to be pulled and pole beans put in along with peas on the back side. Blackberries are wild! Sooo many berries again this year. I will make syrup this year instead of jam since we have jam left over from last year! I love my garden! My manicurist doesn't!

Rustic Plum Tarts

Preheat oven to 350, halve and remove stones from 18-20 plums, slice halves into 4 or 5 slices so they are mostly the same size. place in a bowl and toss with 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg & a dash of salt. After tossing this mixture thoroughly, place into a shallow baking pan, dot with 4 tbsp or butter and bake for 20 min to 1/2 hour. Remove from oven and strain juices into a saucepan. Reduce juices by 1/2 on low heat. Let plum slices cool.
In the meantime while plums cool, prepare tart crust.
crust, for 2 tarts:
2 cups all purpose unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1 cup unsalted butter, cold & cubed
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
mix dry ingredients, cut in butter with pastry cutter or 2 forks till crumbly.
in a 2 cup measure add 1 cup cold water, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
4 or 5 ice cubes to really make liquid cold, (don't use the ice in recipe though)
Slowly add liquid a little at a time mixing with a spoon to keep dough cool. when dough is manageable but not sticky, split into 2 portions and wrap with towel and let rest 1/2 hour.
Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thickness into a round circle.
place on baking sheet, I used pizza pans.
Place cooled plums in a design on each pastry dough. Turn edges into center about 1/2 inch to 1 inch, folding carefully not to rip dough. Brush dough edge with cold water and sprinkle with sugar.
bake 350 1/2 hour, turn heat up to 400, bake additional 15 minutes or until crust is browned. Cool, drizzle the reduced glaze on top of tarts and serve with vanilla soft serve ice cream, whipped cream or creme fresch. Yummy! Can be frozen for a quick desert for unexpected company!

Chard, peas and romaine!

Finished coop/New Kids

The new 'kids' have a small space and their own door with half the run to themselves. The big 'kids' are completely unnerved about the little noisy intruders but are starting to get used to them.Complete mud hole around the coop, thank goodness for the gravel Walt put down on top of landscape cloth. Soon we'll hear crowing and be in egg business! I have commitments from many for egg sales.

Autumn Redd dawg!

My other partner in the yard or garden. If I am someplace so is she! Great companion dog, though a bit nuts about the ball! Thank goodness for the chuckit! Very attentive and sweet for a Cattledog!

the Garden! 2009

having the right tools!

Yay for the Kabota! Move mountains or so it would seem. Brought in gravel, hauled away the old fencing, brought in compost excetra.

New Chicken coop run

Out with the old and in with the new. Since we have new chicks brooding in the house, we needed to complete the new run to move these smelly critters outdoors. They have feathered out so it is not dangerous to move them into the coop.
We split the run in half length wise and cut in a second door, pic to be posted soon. Also we divided and area inside so they would not be bullied by the old girls. This way they get used to one another. Lots of hard work paying off.

'09 Harvst

We have a vase full of flowers from the garden. Daisies, Peonies, Iris, purple, blue and pink. The fragrance is great! Also we have some lettuce mix and spicy mesclun! Great Taco Salad tonight!

helpful hubby!

Walt helping out in the garden this year. I was so fatigued by the flu, it was good to have help in preparation for planting! It was great to have another strong back and large pair of hands!

Here I emerge at 6:30 am ( we were late getting out I know)
hubby snaps a pic. Was a bit chilly, can you tell

a bit blurry but in this pic, Jack, Chris, 'Berta and myself returning from the main dock. Getting ready to cook dinner over some hot coals. Yeah baby,

lake pics

The top pic is of the bass hubbyc aught off the little dock at our cabin. A stinky worm does it every time.
The next pics are of Steve headed to shore and the other is of Jack reaching for something in his boat and Steve changing a lure. Remember, when you click on a pic it goes full screen.

Long Pond, Willsboro NY

A fishing trip on Memorial Day weekend! Lots of fun, fair amount of fish, a little to much wind, a bit of rain, but an amazing great time! I love this place! Cabin 3, otherwise known as Perch. Built in 1999 because a tree took out the original #3cabin. In our cabin we had myself, hubby, brother Jack and wife Chris, mother and Bessie B. Beagle. Steve, "Berta and her dad Bob with Annie the cat were 4 cabins down.
