This is just a small pic sample of our berries this year! They have never produced more fruit than what I am seeing this year! I will not only make jam and jelly this year, but may even try dehydrating them also. Might be good for recipes and cereals, hot oatmeal in winter, hmmmmm!
I have mulched the past 2 years with chicken litter and I only prune late spring after I know what are dead or dying canes.
Just looking at them make my mouth pucker! Birds and fowl, beware!

The berries and the garden look great this year!
Thanks Bender ;-)
Yum!! I love Blackberries. I'm going to try and make jam this year....got any tips??
Hi Jennifer! I use pectin in my jam with a little lemon juice to make sure it will gel. Use Sure Gel or Ball makes one, they also have the recipe they suggest in the package with the amount of what you will need for sugar and fruit. Single batches work better than trying to save time and double it. Let me know how you do with you jam.
And I thought my blackberries were doing well. Yours are outstanding. How much chicken poop do you use? I wouldn't want to overdo it and burn them.
I got tired of making preserves and tried a syrup this year. Can't remember where I found the recipe, but it called for a little brandy and some ginger. I used the jarred ginger and put it in a small seive, spooining the syrup through to infuse. It turned out so tasty!
